Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood situated in The West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" place. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of different communities. Many who've never heard of it often mistake it for an island that is west-facing. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. The first goal she had was to dance however a rapid growth rate resulted in her outgrowing her dance partners. In an interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I am 6 feet and 1 inch." As I grew older than my male friends, I quit. Brugel was one of many former dancers that turned to acting. Her high school teacher school was the one who pushed her in the right direction. She was recommended by a teacher to find a role in the school's annual show. She was chosen to play the main role for Anne of Green Gables after she auditioned for. The show was granted an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to take part in York University's Theater Program which she completed from the program in 2000, earning a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. Since then, Brugel has been involved in more than 60 shows, smaller and large. One of the most memorable was when she landed the role of Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian in the Season 1 cast of the show as well as appearing only on occasion, was the only Canadian.
